The Higher
Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has successfully organized Scholarship
Entry Test (SET) for the second batch of students applying with the Allama
Muhammad Iqbal Scholarships for Bangladeshi Students, which is another
milestone in the educational cooperation between the two countries.
The exam was
conducted in three cities in Bangladesh – Sylhet, Rangpur and Barisal – and had
some 500 interested students who were hoping to study at universities in
Pakistan. The scholarships are being provided under the Pakistan – Bangladesh
Knowledge Corridor, which aims to boost academic cooperation, increase student
mobility, and foster knowledge sharing between the two countries.
The high
participation is indicative of the interest of students from Bangladesh in
Pakistan's higher education system and the rising significance of academic
diplomacy in strengthening bilateral ties. The scholarship programme seeks to
open up opportunities for talented students and develop enduring educational
and cultural relationships by expanding access to quality education.
HEC
conducted the examination in a thorough manner and ensured it was transparent,
fair and accessible. The test was also held concurrently in three different
cities to ensure the participation of students from different parts of
Bangladesh without having to travel a long distance and thus be able to get the
maximum possible participants.
The
Commission also thanked the High Commission of Pakistan in Bangladesh for its
helpful support in conducting the exam in a smooth, transparent and efficient
manner. The close interaction between HEC and the Pakistan's diplomatic mission
demonstrates mutual efforts to enhance educational interaction between Pakistan
and HEC.
The
scholarship programme, named after Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the famed philosopher
and poet of Pakistan, aims to foster academic excellence and groom the
leadership talents of the students of Bangladesh by offering admission to the
top-notch Pakistani Universities. The programme is a wide-spread academic
program which allows students to receive quality education, research experience
and intercultural experience.
The power of
education remains one of the best platforms on which dialogue and cooperation
can take place on a global level. Scholarship programmes do more than just
provide academic benefits; they also foster dialogue, understanding, and
collaboration among future professionals, researchers, and policymakers. Pupils
who study abroad can be long-term ambassadors of goodwill, helping to build
links between peoples and countries.
The Pakistan–Bangladesh
Knowledge Corridor is a visionary approach towards regional cooperation for
education, innovation and learning. It helps in students' exchange and promotes
academic cooperation between universities, which is helpful for sustainable
development and enhances the ties between universities on both sides.
The higher
education landscape in Pakistan has been dynamic in recent years with the
universities expanding research potential, enhancing their international
rankings, and growing partnership with foreign academic institutions. HEC is
continuing to make Pakistan a sought-after destination for students from abroad
for quality higher education through its various programs including the Allama
Muhammad Iqbal Scholarships.
The number of participants in the recent entry test for scholarships – approximately 500 – reflects the increasing popularity of the programme and the faith that students from Bangladesh have in academic institutions here. It is also an indication of the general success of educational exchanges in building mutual understanding and cooperation between regions.
The
Pakistan–Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor is increasingly growing and with the
support of the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarships, it is anticipated that
academic cooperation will deepen, research will be encouraged and the
relationship between Pakistan and Bangladesh will be strengthened. The two
countries are investing in education today, preparing themselves for a more
connected, knowledgeable and prosperous tomorrow.
The Islamabad
Center for Education and Peace (ICEP) is pleased to see the successful organization
of the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarships Entry Test in Bangladesh as a
positive sign of strengthening educational diplomacy between Pakistan and
