Public
morale in Pakistan has started the year 2026 at a much higher level of optimism
than neighboring India and is fairly ahead of global benchmark, claims the
latest Global Economic Gallup Survey. This annual poll, taken in multiple
countries to measure public expectations for the year ahead, shows that
Pakistan’s people are self-assured not only about their country’s immediate
economic future but also in peace for the world during 2020.
The Global
Economic Gallup Survey— covering 60 nations, including Pakistan and India— has
been measuring three dials of sentiment: general good feeling about the coming
year; expectations that prosperity will be greater (or smaller); and
expectations for global peace. In all three respects, Pakistan comes out well
ahead of the global average in two cases way above and also ahead of India
across two of these key metrics.
According to
the survey findings:
·
51% of Pakistanis are optimistic about the year ahead
in 2026, compared to 39% of Indians and a global average of 24%.
·
53% Pakistanis are hopeful about a year of economic
prosperity in 2026 – This optimism is significantly higher than the figures
from India and twice as much the global average.
·
In Pakistan, 52% report that they believe world peace
will be better in 2026 than it is now; in India the figure stands at just 26%.
This substantial gap mirrors an improved peace sentiment among Pakistanis in
the new year, analysts said.
·
Pakistani overall optimism about the future and
confidence in national economic growth as well as perception of global peace
place Pakistan better than India on two of three main indicators used in the
survey and way above averages.

Business Recorder – 53% of Pakistanis believe 2026 as year of economic
prosperity “53 per cent Pakistanis say 2026 will be a year of economic
prosperity” Economic Optimism Stronger Than Regional Peer Aamir In that backdrop,
Pakistan's macro-economic environment as indicated by public opinion is
favorable to a remarkable level in the context of global uncertainties on
inflation pressures, geopolitical conflict and transforming trade equations.
At 53% of respondents expecting good economic days in five years’ time,
Pakistanis are among the most optimistic about their future financial path.
By
contrast, having 39% of the Indians looking optimistically ahead on economic
prospects shows a significant variation in both countries' spirit of public
confidence. Even though as an economic powerhouse based on GDP, India’s economy
is still thriving, the Gallup survey focused on perception and public
confidence which are adequate to inform about investor behavior and consumer
activity.
These
findings reveal that Pakistanis are starting the new year with high hopes for
an upward turn in their economic fortunes – a tendency that could generate
positive energy towards business activity, consumer confidence and future
economic interaction.
Peace
View Is Fostered
·
Another interesting revelation in the survey was
Pakistan’s desire to see more worldwide peace by 2026. And with 52% of
Pakistanis believing that peace will improve in the year to come, this once
again beats India’s 26% response for the same question.
·
This peace optimism is close to some of its highest
recorded levels in Pakistan. It points to a wide perception of faith and hope
that pressures, from home and abroad alike, can ease or be handled more
productively in the coming year.
· The peace sentiment indicates that Pakistanis are not thinking inward, but looking outwards to the world and cooperation despite uncertainties and geopolitical competition in the world.
Why This
Survey Matters
Confidence and
optimism are vital socioeconomic indicators. Optimism about the economy and
peace, at high levels, can help drive consumer spending, entrepreneurial
risk-taking and investment – economic dynamism. And also when citizens believe
that peace is still possible, it has the potential to encourage community
solidarity, and civic duty — important ingredients in long term development.
Although
traditional economic indicators like growth in gross domestic product and trade
balances are important, the Gallup poll taps into what people hope for and
expect; these often precede changes actually felt in the economy and society,
Yemen says. For Pakistan, a triumph in the sentiment stakes over regional peers
such as India is indicative of a transformation in public confidence that could
have broader resonance for policy, investment and perceptions globally as the
year proceeds.
Global
Context and Reliability
The Global
Economic Gallup Poll is carried out annually, with tens of thousands of people
surveyed across many countries. In Pakistan this survey has been conducted by
Gallup Pakistan since 1994 and it is one of the few reliable sources of public
opinion trends in the country. The international scope of the study makes
comparisons between countries and over time possible, offering valuable
perspectives on shifting attitudes around the world.
In Conclusion as the world enters 2026, Pakistan has above-average scores for hope, economic confidence and a belief that there will be peace in the future, compared to the rest of the world and its immediate neighbor India, according to key Gallup indicators. These findings mirror a resilience of attitude in Pakistan during challenging global circumstances, while also providing a beacon of hope which may influence the country’s social and economic path for the coming year.
